A relative newcomer on the watchmaking scene, Frederique Constant has grown into one of the larger Swiss manufacturers since its launch in 1988. The company was founded in 1988 by Aletta Francoise Frédérique Stas-Bax and Peter Constant Stas.
The name of Frederique Constant is a blend of each co-founder’s great-grandparents names: Frédérique Schreiner (1881–1969) and Constant Stas (1880–1967). This is a nod to the history and heritage of the brand. Although the brand itself is only just over 30 years old – mere babies on the industry scene, the family has a proud record in watchmaking. Constant. Stas founded a company that manufactured watch dials as early as 1904.
